From the inside out. It shows in this recruiting class with the total of linemen they brought in. There's two things a football team needs to do to win championships. You must run the ball(successfully), and stop the run. If you're great at those things, you win. Watch the Super bowl, and check the stats of the winner. A good quarterback is far more valuable than a good running game and good run defense. There is a reason that the NFL teams with Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, Brady, and Aaron Rodgers are always good. That said, this was a solid recruiting class, it irritates me that we cant do better than this, because I feel like at this point we should be getting 6-8 4 star guys a year, but I think at least the guys we got seem to be high quality individuals and solid players. Meaning after having a football program for 15 years and never having won more than 9 games in a single season?Schools like Penn St, Wisconsin, Miami, Virginia Tech, South Carolina, Iowa, Arkansas all got about 3 to 5, Four stars this season and all of those teams have been BCS caliber within the past couple years or at least have strong tradition like Miami. Ohio St "only" got 9 four stars this year. By your standards they should be getting at least 20 per year lol.Our fanbase really is ******* delusional sometimes. We've almost finished in the top half of the Big East... you'd think we would be a sure thing for every player who has even looked at a football. [/sarcasm]It wasn't an amazing class and it wasn't a bad class. If these are the players Holtz felt he needed to execute his system, then I'm willing to see what he can do with them. From the guys he grabbed, it looks like he thinks he has a stud somewhere in the RB core and wants more control of the line.

We can chalk it up to Holtz establishing ties in Florida, but next year there needs to be improvement imo if we are going to compete for BCS bowl games. You are looking at rankings that add up total number of points. So Marshall signed 30 guys. The quality is far far less but we only signed 21. But all 21 of our signees will be on campus and wont be sign in place or grey shirt. marshall avg 2.27 stars, USF 2.62. Same with UCF. They signed 28 guys. Avg of 2.39 though. The rankings are ridiculous

Rivals and Scout are there to make fans and recruits happy -- that's it.

However, we still finished right around our average wins/year. We are an average BCS team right now. Seems like you're one of those guys that puts more stock in winning in February than in September-December. We have a proven coach now that has won at every stop; he has shown he has a system that works, which showed this year. You need to be patient. Winning a Big East title and a win/good showing in a BCS bowl will start attracting top talent to USF. I really don't see why this is so hard for people to understand. People act like we should be getting better recruits when we haven't shown we can have championship-caliber seasons yet.
