Big East was set to take Kansas and, others

Thought this was interesting, coach Self's (Kansas basketball coach) confirmed on his weekly radio show that if Texas left for the Pac-10 Kansas, K-State, Mizzou and ISU were going to join the Big East. He goes on to talk about Big East inviting TCU is a smart idea to protect its football playing members in case Big 10 decides to expand...again.

Now, what's interesting is there was a tidbit in the Statesman.com by Kirk Bohls saying:

I keep hearing Kansas is talking to the Big East. Who would blame the Jayhawks for looking since they were nearly left out in the last realignment merry-go-round?[/

I think Kansas would be an excellent number 10 for the Big East becuase of their basketball program and descent football program.

They will if K-State, Missouri, and Iowa State are included.

The Big 12 is far less stable than the Big East.  If the BEast can revenue match those four are done with the B12.  Losing Texas in the conferences TV deal kills a large portion of the value for the rest of the conference.  Especially if A&M gets an unbalanced share.
