There is a lot of luck that goes both ways in football. You could fill pages about luck that has lead to teams winning and losing.

How lucky was Oregon last night that the Cal kicker gets called for a false start?  How many times have you seen that called?  How lucky was LSU earlier in the year when they ran a fake kick. The holder tosses the ball over his shoulder and ball bounces straight up into the kicker's hands for a successful fake.

Hell, UCONN won part of a BE championship a couple of years ago on several of the luckiest plays in football. A blown call that gave them a winning TD and then the fake fair catch.

Its part of the game and although we aren't a great team, we are good enough to be in a position to take advantage of the breaks we are getting.

Sellular1 I could not agree with you more. Our luck will run out... if we don't step it up a notch. All I hear are excuses, not answers. truth is truth. To all the pureists who believe that BJ and Holtz are the second coming, take off the blinders of hope. I love my BULLS to the nenth degree. It is just that we see flashes of glory, and other teams show brilliance. For being one of the largest U's in the USA, we should have the caliber of player here. It is because of this simplicity of our program nobody but 3 star or bounce back troubled players want.

+1

yeah its called the big 3

blue chippers like to play in front of 80k fans and have a chance to play for natl titles instead of playing against 28k fans at rayjay.

That said:

We had something terrible like 85 yards passing.............. 50 of those yards came on the long play to bogan.... we need to improve to beat pitt

Frazer was 9 of 20 for 100 yards on Thrusday night.

Todman was 37 for 222.

Man UCONN better get a better passing game too or else run the risk of being predictable....lol

We do not have a back like Todman- isn't he one of the top 5 backs in the country?

We've beaten teams we're better than and lost to teams that were better than us.

I'm not convinced USF wouldn't beat Syracuse in a rematch, especially at home. I think it's even generous to say USF was outplayed that day, as neither team played particularly well. That game was a big let down. Otherwise, the season has probably followed your description.

This thread is stupid.

First of all, we are winning.  I would rather win with a so-called "predictable" offense than score a lot of points on fancy gadget plays and yet lose.  You may consider us lucky to win those games, but at the end of the game, we had more points than the other and that's what matters.  Our defense made plays when they needed.  Our special teams put us in a position to win games.  And our offense did what they could.  In fact, I think we should laud BJ for not throwing INTs and for protecting the ball better.

I'm glad we got "lucky" and won our last three games.  That's far better than being "good" and yet losing our last three games.

You, sir, are an idiot.

Todman is also one of the best backs in the conference.

Plancher/Murray does not equal Todman... Lol

The point is that you CAN be predictable and still win games. You play within your strengths.

Also, give me a healthy Murray with 30+ touches any day. Murray has been playing banged up since WKU. He's gutting it out for us right now.

Reminds me of Tony Dungys Bucanneer offenses.

Um. W ???

Are we awesome? No. Can we improve? Yes

Is this a better team now than it was in September? Most def!!!

If one cannot see the improvement. Especially in BJ's game. They just don't want to acknowledge it. He almost looks like a D1 quarter back.

And in case you haven't noticed Daniels throws one of the most beautiful and accurate deep balls in college football. Its his other throws that are sketchyand those are getting better.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
