I don't know why anyone would want to play at UNF.  I used to go to school there and they have one of the worst bball teams I have ever seen.

Probably a GF is figuring in that decision  ;)

Andre Jackson at RJS

RECRUITING: Men's basketball coach Stan Heath could be close to his first commitment for 2011 after visits last weekend from Orlando PG Shane Larkin (son of former Reds star Barry Larkin) and junior college C Andre Jackson. Jackson, 6 feet 10 and 295 pounds, would bring considerable size to the post. "Right now, South Florida's looking really good," said Roy Champagne, Jackson's coach at Lee Community College in Texas.

HS Confidential: Shane Larkin gets strong push from USF

Dr. Phillips' Shane Larkin By Tiffany Greene, BHSN

Last Updated: Wednesday, September 29, 2010

ORLANDO --

Dr. Phillips star point guard Shane Larkin is meeting a lot of people, college coaches to be more exact.  Today, he was greeted by an assistant coach from USF at the team’s preseason workout.  Larkin, the son of Cincinnati Reds shortstop Leaguer Barry Larkin, is one of the quickest point guards in the nation.  He has great handles and although undersized for the position, he’s fearless when he goes to the hoop.  The Bulls like that about him.  So does UCF, George Mason, Colorado, Boston College and a host of other schools.

Larkin will make his visits to several of the schools before he makes a final decision.  USF is trying to lure him in by selling a Big East school just an hour away from home.

Landing both of these guys would be absolutely great work...  fingers crossed!  We could have quite a front court with Jackson in the mix.

I have faith that Heath will pull the coup on these players. They can both have serious impacts at USF, and assuming USF builds off the noise they made last year, will have a lot of eyes watching them as they leave their marks on the Big East.

I don't know if Jackson can play on the BE level or not but **** he looks intimidating. Very impressive looking physical specimen(no homo).

Larkin is who we have to have no ifs, ands, or buts about it. With what the bottom feeders are bringing in we have to have Larkin so at least we will have a PG as talented as anyone coming into the league, even though the rest of our class may not be that strong.

There are still a few players out there that can perform in the BE that are not really being looked at by other BE schools. Heath and staff needs to identify and hopefully be able to get them here. SG Phil Greene and SF David Rivers are two.

I believe Jackson made about 75% of his shots last year, so he's not just a big guy who can block and rebound. He probably won't do that well against Big East competition, but at least he can put it in the basket.
