This site has USF as an 18 point underdog.

It also shows the point spread for many of our other games.

Take the points!

USF by 3, 20-17 on a last-play FG from 48 yards out. The Swamp is silent, the announcers are silent, and you can hear the BULLS fans in the background chanting U-S-F, U-S-F, U-S-F ... (fade to black)

+1

USF has a good shot. If Tebow was still in college I would say otherwise, but John Brantley is no Tim Tebow.

Brantley is pretty good.  Also he can open up the offense there to a whole new direction if Urban and company choose.

I think the game is going to be defined by the nerves of Brantley.

Goin on a pseudo-analytic approach of the spread sayin we are down 18....

You consider that we play up as underdogs....add a USF TD

You consider that this is the biggest game in USF history and the players KNOW it.....add a USF TD

You consider that it is early in the season and one of the few times UF could be vulnerable with brantley under center..... it could be a very close game.

If God is smiling on USF on Sept 11th,

USF 24

UF 21

And as aforementioned, we get KILLED when playing power running teams (see rutgers)

But when we play against the spread offense with the "fastest players"( like Devine from WVU) our defense fares quite well.

People are too quick to rule USF out and just say UF has it in the bag due to "talent."

IMHO Players from the state of florida are a certain kind of breed, and USF has em just like UF does.

9 times out of 10, under normal circumstances, Florida in all respects SHOULD beat USF.

BUT that is under NORMAL circumstances.

not when it is

USF's greatest game to date

The introduction of a brand new coach in Skip Holtz who Florida cant necessarily prep against

The USF players as well as the fans UNDYING thirst to pull off an upset

The 2nd game of UF s starting QB

If we can strike while the iron is hot, there will be in upset at the swamp.

And as we all know in the world of college football, ANYTHING can happen. ;)

NEW offense, defense, special teams, and coaches. We, and they, don't know what we've got.

My prediction:

First week - we dominate like Kentucky Weslyan and the turds struggle a little bit.

This board goes absolutely insane.

Second week - Turds win and someone on here says to fire the coach, bench BJ, and the BE will never compete with the SEC.

Very good call, I like that call.

USF Kool-Aid gulper that I am, I predict USF will upset UF 21-17.  Remember when Coach Holtz was first introduced at the pep rally by the Marshall Center and someone yelled out "Beat Florida" and Coach Holtz yelled back "That's what I'm here for!"....well Sept. 11 would be the day to do it.

USF just needs to play it cool publically until the game, kinda like yea we'll do our best but we know we'll get beat, but in private at practice, preparing for the game, and all that-- work super hard getting ready to beat Florida and going into the game confident they will win.  Too, Coach Holtz and associates need to bring a toolkit with some extra tricks and hammers and just do it.  Beat Florida!

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
