This is big news. Marinatto has no freaking clue how to handle this situation. Tags started the NFL Network. He is putting the pieces together to start a BE Network that will capitalize on the huge media footprint. Tags brings instant credibility with the networks in order to help the BE find a partner for the new network. It would be ironic if a Gtown grad helped save the football schools. So looking ahead, if the BE can get a network and get much stronger financially we could potentially get former BE teams such as BC and Miami to come back to the conference. BC is not a good fit for the ACC and Miami hasn't dominated the ACC like it thought. Anyway, at least someone with some brains is trying to help, hope its not too late.

Well played by Marinatto. Tagliabue is a great guy to have in your corner. I was starting to be convinced that the BE would just sit around and wait for the dominos to fall.

There is already a network that could be built up to be the network for the BE, its called the Madison Square Garden Network. It's a natural fit. Not to mention the BE needs to move its headquarters to NYC. Its time to grow up and act like a Big Time conference. I think I'm going to register the Big Time Conference Name in case the football schools split off :)

I hope Tags takes over as BE Commish, brings in his own people and gets rid of Mike T's hand picked guys.(and son) The BE is a goldmine if it can get somebody with some experience, leadership and a nutsack. Marinatto is WAY out of his league (no pun intended).

More info. on MSG:

MSG Network, now shortened to simply MSG, is a regional cable television and radio network serving the Mid-Atlantic and focused on New York City sports teams. The network takes the name of Madison Square Garden, and has long been the producer of radio and television broadcasts of the NBA's New York Knicks, NHL's New York Rangers, and WNBA's New York Liberty, which play their home games at the Garden. MSG is also the home of MLS's New York Red Bulls who play at Red Bull Arena and the NHL's Buffalo Sabres; the Rangers do not air west of the Syracuse media market, while the Sabres do not air south of the Albany or Binghamton markets. MSG also has a sister station, MSG Plus, which is the primary home to the NHL's New Jersey Devils and New York Islanders (plus Sabres games for viewers outside Buffalo and Rochester when there is a conflict with the Knicks) as well as national FSN programming.

MSG rebranded on October 5, 2006 with a new logo, new graphics and the removal of Network from promotion of the station's name. Since the relaunch, more entertainment-oriented programming has aired on the network. This programming includes concerts and professional boxing and wrestling cards that have taken place at Madison Square Garden or Radio City Music Hall (both operated by MSG Entertainment) in the past and continue to occur to this day.

YES and SNY are also options of NY sports networks that could be partnered with.... (you guys would hate to be a part of YES as that is the Yankee Entertainment and Sports network)

So do this mean the Big East looking to expand? Will they up grade the league, or down grade with expansion?

I think the whole point to having a network is to own it, not have someone pay you for the rights like we have now. So no to MSG and yes to The Big East Network, owned by the Big East with all profits to the Big East schools.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
