Lakeland Dan. That is nice and all, but that league/scenario you created no longer has a BCS membership. "Big East" is the BCS member. That moniker is owned by the basketball schools, Cuse and UCONN (aka the charter members).

The fact is if the Big 10 wanted, they could destroy the Big East. They could probably destroy the Big 12 too if they wanted.

If they don't and say only 1 team leaves, or just 1 team is added then there are really only 3 options. ECU, Memphis, and UCF. Even mentioning teams like MTSU and Akron shows just plain ignorance.

Would be nice to see the Big East get proactive instead of waiting for the Big 10 to make their move but its a basketball league with some football teams sadly.

Well, I'd hope that there would be a deal in the split that the football schools that form the new league take the BCS tag with them. The BE's little football teams wouldn't be able to keep them, most of them are all FCS right now.

Saying that ECU, Memphis, and UCF are the only options is just plain ignorance!

Not any math majors here ?  Big 11 money say is(just guessing) 24 mil for TV- Big 10 network - now you go to 14 teams.  So I used to get about 2.18 mil and now I get 1.71 mil - makes sense to me.  They will go to 12 but that is it.  And even then I don't know that the championship games will bring in enough money to make it worthwhile - it might  Do you think it will bring in over 2 mil  ?  I don't really know

The assumption is that since BCS only applies to football the basketball schools won't have a need for it and the BCS bid will revert to the new football conference.

not true, its attached to the teams, if we add tcu, their rankings from this past year will count towards our bcs membership durng evaluation

tcu and houston would be the best adds to keep our bcs bid if we lost a team or 2... memphis keeps basketball elite if we have to split, and maybe temple rounds it out with good baskeball and keeps us in philly
