By the way, it took Billy Donovan three years to get to the NCAA Tournament for the first time. He has more tourney bids for the Gators than every other coach they've had combined. In fact it took them 71 years to go dancing for the first time.

Actually didn't Dwayne Schintzus take UF to the final 4 years ago?  Also, I thought they had some success when Dmitri Hill was there too.  (Could have been the same time, it was a while back).

Yeah I believe they made a final 4 or something when hill was there, pretty sure they beat duke in the tourney that year (Dad is a die hard gator).

So I actually looked.

Schintzius and Vernon Maxwell took the team to the sweet 16.  Demetri Hill and Andrew Declerq went to the final 4 in 1994.  Donovan was hired and they went to the title game in 2000.  Too much gator info, but apparently what we need is a dwayne schintzius.
