I get the impression this guy is one of those coaches who prefers to just run his offense and not be bothered by trying to be top dog. Monte Kiffin was like that. Mickey Andrews and Wally Burnham too.

some coaches just like to work behind the curtains, so to speak. It's not always about money for some people

MikeG,

I don't think that's the case. I think he's one of those assistants that isn't going to jump at the first jobs offered merely because it's a raise.

I'd Interview him if I were USF, but I'm not sure if he's ready to jump.

if he is that good, why hasn't someone smarter than USF figured it out already?

He has a very short college coaching career.  He just got into college coaching when a few of his players were big time prospects, he went with them to Arkansas.  I believe it was Mustain and Damian Williams

bear in mind--- we are looking for a new head coach-- a CEO basically of a multi-million dollar endeavor.

he might be brilliant as an OC -- I don't know. But is he ready to run a dang company? Sounds like he isn't quite ready for that level of responsibility. Perhaps he wasn't waiting for the right situation as much as he was trying to prepare himself for one.

He was a HS head coach from 1992-2005, again, coaching legend in Arkansas, so he has run the entire show, albeit at the HS level.

From wikipedia...

His 2005 squad at Springdale went 14-0, easily won the state’s Class 5A championship, outscored its opponents 664-118, including a 54-20 victory over West Memphis in the state championship game, and was consistently ranked among the top 10 teams in the nation.

Not bad, but doesn't seem like he'd be interested in the HC job...

I at least hope they contact him and give him a serious interview.
