Carl Franks named interim USF coach

USF named assistant Carl Franks interim coach in the wake of Jim Leavitt's firing. Franks, the former coach at Duke, and the rest of the staff will remain in place until a new coach is named. The new coach will decide whether or not to retain them.

I don't see that happening.  USF had to know that they'd already be wayyyy late in the process to go through this, so I'm guessing they move as swiftly as possible to hire the best name they can get.  I think someone said it best that this makes sense, as he is the recruiting coordinator, and right now the biggest impact of this situation is on recruiting ... hopefully he can keep things afloat until the new guy gets here.

Smart move at this point in time for Franks to be named Interim Coach.  The most thing that matters in the immediate shoirt term is the recruiting and keeping the current players in place.  Franks is the recruiting coordinator and has HC experience so he can keep the administrative part of the job going.  

The sooner they can get someone in here the better.  I can deal with Franks in administrative role and that's about it.
