It was nice to see more direct handoffs rather than zone-reads.

And on a couple of reads, the DE went for the QB...

Of course, the fact that Lamar and Samuels didn't even make the trip made it easier for Ford to do well.

I'd like to see a screen with Mike catching the ball from B.J.

Give him the ball 20 times a game and he will move chains and score near the goaline, he is way to big and fast not to be the starter.

Yes, but for CJL starting a game is not about talent ALONE.  It's about talent, work ethic, knowledge of the game and the scheme, etc.

And for an RB, it's as much about blocking as it is about running.  Ford's done well - but doesn't seem to be THAT much better OVERALL than Plancher.

Ford doesn't have that first step speed/quickness.

Fumbling is not good for playing time if you are on this team.  I think Mo may have moved in, while Ford is slowing moving out of the dog house.

Mo is usually careful with the ball when he hits those holes, but yesterday it was clear he did not protect the ball with both arms.

And Ford won't get 20+ carries per game.  That is not our offense...unless the defense continues to focus on the QB on the option read plays and/or we're up big and trying to eat the clock.

No, Ford is a hundred times better than MO overall. Mo has tripped in the backfield on every other career this year. And the little extra speed he might have over ford is negated by the strength.

I understand that we dont have a "factor back". But Mike Ford needs to be getting the majority of the carries by the backs.

not sure if its been here yet, but this quote by CJL is music to my ears:  "We need to get Mike going more, need to run him more, need to get the ball in his hands," coach Jim Leavitt said. "He's going to be real important for us."

68 yards on 13 carries with 2 tds is a great start.
