Actually Edrington is right, the team should follow Walker's example.  But he is likely wrong that nothing is being done about it.  Like most writers today, because a person won't provide him with fat, juicy quotes that makes it easy to write his article, he takes shots at the person(s).  Just because someone says that something is an internal matter, doesn't mean that it is not being handled internally.  Because no one commented on the matter does NOT mean that it is being 'swept under the rug.'

Football teams ARE like families....they have their ups and downs and always there are squabbles.  But as with most families, discipline and teaching about life's lessons goes on behind the scenes mostly.  Edrington took the usual 'writers are antagonists' approach as soon as he didn't get any calls back that helped him write his story.  Boo hoo.

The prison culture that permeates the inner city and has spread to mainstream America is where this type of story needs to be directed.  Use of the "N word" is nonchalant in this culture and does not have the same connotations as the old pre-Civil Rights meanings.

Has anyone given any thought to what might have happened had Giddens called McGhin a "Socialist"  I heard that was the new "N" word...

Maybe Giddins is an angry upset "birther"?

Have you guys even read the comments at the Bleacher Report?

"For the head coach and administration to tacitly condone this behavior, and to ban the media from hearing it again instead of dealing with the player involved, is simply unconscionable."

This shows you exactly why people like McMurphy and Edrington need to be de-credentialed (if that is a word).  On that site they are fomenting with other "writers" this idea that USF coaches and administration condone the use of racial slurs.

Tom even praises the numbskull for making the comment that USF condones racial slurs:

"Leroy: Your comments are most powerful as well. Your observations show that you are a man of character and of course, one of the finest writers on this site.

Writing something like this does not come easy. I was most distressed that USF did not come up with a better stance. I kept asking Chris Freet for something from the athletic director, who for all intents and purposes is the CEO of the sports program and could get nothing. In fact, I got the sense that Freet found my requests annoying.

This story touches a hornet's nest, no doubt.

Thank you for your stance on this important societal subject, Leroy."

This tops any of Brett's previous stunts.  This is bad.  It's beyond just making stuff up.  I think it's getting close to the point where USF Athletics may need to look at options including legal options.

This joker Leroy Watson's comments that USF condones racial slurs and the other joker Tom (the author) not to clarify the issue but to praise the guy who took the misleading information a step further is ridiculously irresponsible and clearly meant to do harm to reputations of the program and its people.

If you had any question about Tom Edrington, they will be answered by reading the comment section.

BTW, not to cite other websites, but the reason why tom is full of poppy ****, is because brett consulted with others on whether he should print this or not.  He asked someone if it was worthy or would cause issue.

So, this wasn't brett diving into a cauldron of mystery and controversy.  This was a little diddy he printed, unsure of it's ramifications, and was quite possibly not going to be printed, but brett being brett....it was hardly intended for it to be taken or used the way Tom has used it.  In fact it only took a life of it's own once Leavitt banded him--- yet again.

From an article standpoint, and why tom isn't going to get any more play out of this then the bleacher report is because it is pure hearsay, and for anything to be racially motivated the context, and intention need to be clearly articulated.  It was something brett heard in a distance, and despite knowing the context, he didn't care, nor made it clear.  It is like someone wondering outloud on campus why there is a MLK Plaza at USF.  If not knowing or hearing it right, someone might say it's racially charged, but perhaps the individual is inquiring if USF has any type of affiliation with MLK?

oh no, I am racist too..... :D
