Mike Ford has ZERO work ethic.

It is really a shame because if he put his mind to it he could be one of the best backs we've ever seen at USF. He has all the talent in the world, just doesn't try.

You have no idea what you are talking about.  He struggles with blocking.  This is why he doesn't see the field.  The NFL is always obsessed with size and speed, this is why he is on the radar.

I love the way people trash players just for the sake of saying something interesting. Mike has zero work ethic????? Are you serious? Until you have either worked out with him, played with him, or have a **** reliable source close to him that knows he doesn't work hard, just keep your mouth shut because you are contributing nothing.

And that Franks post said nothing about him having bad work ethic, just that he needs to keep hitting the weights and improving which is a very bland statement that can be said about any legit D1 athlete.

Yes, but Franks also said, in the post, four key works - "when he is on"

When you use those words, it usually means that usually the person is not on.  That they are inconsistent.  That they have moments of grandieur, followed by moments of disapointment.

EVERYONE ON THIS BOARD (cept maybe smazza) want Ford to be a stud, have a breakout year, go as a First Rounder in the NFL Draft - we are all pulling for the kid.  Just saying that between injuries and underperformance, he has not been that much of a factor yet.  Can this be his big year, maybe. Will it, I don't know - jury is still out.

I for one do not want to see Grothe running every play because his receivers cannot get open, and backs cannot run.  I'd like to see a much more balanced offense with improved play calling and a healthy OL.  But without an effective running game, the team will suck.  It pushes us back into a Grothe Run, Grothe Pass mentality and becomes predictable.

If he stays healthy this year then we should see how good he really is, and I think he will have a great year. I think 225 is a good weight for him.

The big question is will this new oline be able to open up some holes for the backs.

Stop being a fool, none of us have worked out with mike ford but plenty of us know coaches and/or players personally. anyone who knows someone in the system will tell you the same thing. mike ford doesn't give 110%. he thinks his natural ability is enough to go to the NFL.

everyone who is within will also tell you that mike ford can be a DOMINANT force if he gets his act together.

I'm a huge ford fan. HUGE. If you check my previous posts on Ford over the past two years you can see that.

We all want Ford to dominate and we all want him to be the best he can be.... i'm pretty sure that is the general consensus...

seems to me that he realized he needed to work out more and did so this offseason.  He looks better now than he's looked since being at USF, and he's committed to getting better at blocking.

Jamar Taylor was the best RB last year (until injured), but Mike Ford showed what he can do during the 2007 season.  I have a lot of hope in those 2 and I think Plancher is a good backup.
