If you consider the average recruiting point totals per conference you can see there is a big drop off from the 6 BCS conference to the rest.  Not sure how the MWC can consider themselves worthy of BCS status if the overall talent they are attracting is so low.

WVU played at Colorado St last season too.

PS. In reality, there isn't much cost difference for most road games...as teams have to charter a plane...rent buses when they land...stay in a hotel the night before...feed a travel party of approx 120 or so for 1 1/2 days.

Not really much difference in the end in say flying to Ft. Worth, TX (TCU) than say Bloomington, IN or Bowling Green, KY.

Now with the MWC making noise on a national level...there might be more chances to land some non-conf National TV games which would lead to more exposure and possibly more $$$$ for Big East teams. (i.e. ESPN just picked up Colorado St at WVU series again this year).

...

Didn't the have 2 teams in the Top 15 in 2008 ?

Utah should have been in, but Auburn, Penn St, etc. hae been left out also.

as well all know, guys who get recruited by non-bcs schools are typically not rated as high.  not too mention there is a regional bias.  if you took the exact same kid and put him in high school in dade county or in rural utah...you would have drastically different rankings.

granted the competition is alot different but ability isn't

The Mountain West lost out to conference USA which should end the MWC argument right there.  Also,  they have UCF listed as number 1 in CUSA and I would like to say well done to them.

Because it can be pricey to go west and the MWC isn't big time outside of a couple of teams.

The way things work we would pay one of them to come east for a home game.  That's how they try to build legitimacy.  They don't expect the BCS teams to schedule home-home games with them.  If Utah continues to rank highly year after year then it will change for the Utes.
