You have to have some sort of throwing threat out of it. Would have been great with Amarri. Not sure TJ or any of our backs are capable of throwing a good pass/making a good decision to tuck and run.

Having said that, I wouldn't mind seeing Jamar Taylor taking the direct snap if we wanted to give it a shot.

I don't think he can cut or has strength to break DL tackles.  Grothe can do better than TJ.  Arami Jackson can throw better than TJ.

During on of the games it was mentioned that TJ has a pretty good arm in terms of throwing the ball for distance the question is accuracy.

As for USF running the wildcat it is not different than how USF uses Grothe.  Most systems that run the wildcat typically do not run their QB.
