So a 7-5 ND could not leapfrog, say, a 9-3 Pitt. And the Cotton Bowl could also take ND."http://proxy.espn.go.com/chat/chatESPN?event_id=23274

So That would mean a 6-6 ND team vs. a 9-3 team. Which one is correct?

Guest
It's two wins. The author wasn't grammatically correct.9-3 Pitt goes ahead of 7-5 Notre Dame is a correct example.

Thats why ND will be the choice at 9-3 or 8-4. Don't see any Big East team getting in with a 10-2 record. By the way, Pitt plays ND this week in South Bend, so we'll see what the Irish have. If they win that game, they will go at least to Jacksonville.

"Notre Dame has to not be more than two wins worse.." If they are worse than 2 wins, which would be 3, they would not be eligible. If they are not worse than 2 wins, which would be -2, -1, 0, 1, 2...anything 2 or lower...they are eligible. I'm not seeing the problem with the grammar.Notre Dame might not win 3 more games. They play Pittsburgh, @ Boston College, @ Navy, Syracuse, and @ No. 5 USC.They could easily lose to Pitt, BC, Navy, and USC. They'll most likely beat Syracuse, but that only gives them 6 wins safely. Considering the Big East probably gets several teams with 9+ wins, Notre Dame would have to beat one of those 4 teams to have a chance. The Big East could have a few 10-win teams as well, though, which would make it even harder. 6 teams in the Big East have a chance to win 10 games in the regular season, so it will just depend on if any 2 can step up. Hopefully USF is 1 of them.

I think they are a lock for the Gator Bowl this year. Also, doesn't the Gator stand to lose them if they don't pick ND this year?

I suppose it could be both as well.
