What ever happened to becoming just USF

What's the difference?  Why can't we be both?  In reality, we ARE both, so I don't see why it matters that much what others call us.

I don't mind it when ESPN refers to us as South Florida.  I think I actually prefer that identity.

the only thing that bothers me is when we are on a score thing on the tv as "SFLA" or "So FLa"

as long as the abbreviation is always USF id rather us be called south florida

I agree!  I think that was a stupid decision by the ATH Dept.

I don't care about the geographic inaccuracies, South Florida just sounds better.

I am from Pensacola.  To me Tampa is "south" florida.

OYE. Well what if I preferred to call it the University of Florida South? What I or anyone else prefers doesn't matter, it IS USF and because of this whole crappy debate and with our old SID not enforcing it early in the process we will get called Florida Southern, Southern Florida, SFU and God knows what else for years. Horrible.

USF....South Florida are one and the same.  Proud either way.  I have seen the school develop tremendously since moving down here 20 years ago. 

Just don't call us UCF.

When we started football the athletic dept. marketing was going to move for us to be known as "USF" ala "USC", 'UCLA" etc.  what ever happened.  all this time, and we are still South Florida on broadcasts.  At least we are no longer Southern Floirdia, Florida Southern, etc.  But still, seems like it was abandoned.

usf was the way to go
