i don't care what "style" we use...

i just think the Offensive Coordinator should be required to have a freakin OFFENSIVE SCHEME, whatever style it may  be.

We have quality RBs but the reality is that our OLine eventhough it has experience is NOT the type of line that would move a GOOD defensive line and allow`us to rin the I-formation.

Thats why we run a spread offense, because we have quality skill positions and thus our OLine fits that style better. It doesnt mean we cant run the ball but it means that we are NOT geared to just pound it in there.

Thats why I scream every time we get to the goal line and we take our WRS out get into a tight formation with 3 RBS and try to pound it in. If you look at those results we even struggled against FIU doing that.

Keep the wrs out spread them out so the D must cover them and still run it but allow more space for our RBs to squeeze in.

I think our current OLineman are giving it they all but that is our weakest talent position so to try to be a running pounding team would be just plain stupid.

Cuban, do you think USF's offensive line is any worse than Rutgers or Pitt or UConn?  Those teams run the ball because they commit to it and scheme to do it.  You shouldn't expect to have great running success if you just line up in a power formation once in a while.  It doesn't just 'happen'.

USF can run the ball if they want - look at Andre Hall's time here.  They had to run the ball then because they couldn't throw it.

Jake

Pitt, UConn and Rutgers with Ray Rice are teams that were built to run first. Their OLine's where recruited and have been doing that for years. USF's line has been built for the spread, passing and quick traps to let RBs get thru.

With Andre Hall we had NO choice our passing sucked and if you see what happened when we met any team with a resemblance of a DLine like NCst they stopped us.

Yes our OLine is not without talent and with the RBs we have we will be able to run vs bad or avg defenses. Watch us rake up over 200 yds rushing vs the Cuse, but youll see those numbers go down vs UL and Cincy. We will NOT beat Cincy with just trying to run it.

Rutgers and Pitt have more highly rated recruits in their lines. Their lines specially tackles are bigger than ours. They are more of the blocking downhill style. All you have to lok at is how much our line struggles when we need a yard.

we don't need to completely restructure our offense. we don't even need to do anything fancy.

the most obvious thing we can do is add a few basic plays to our offense that will keep defenses guessing--- play action, shovel pass, option [anything other than that tired read option handoff], etc.--- and actually gameplan an OFFENSIVE SCHEME.

and while it's true that we're not going to be a ground-n-pound power running team any time soon, that doesn't mean we can't line up in the I- or in the wishbone and throw a wrinkle in there a few times a game.  put Pupello and Ced in, have Kelly lead block and let Ford plow for a few yards.

aside from that, we need to cut down on our rotation of backs and receivers and let our players get into a rhythm.

basic stuff.

Agree, just wonder why CJL doesn't see it this way and make some changes (as least not up to this point)! Like you said, basic stuff.

An offense that is consistent each and every game.  And of course a KILLER INSTINCT.

The pro-style is a great offensive scheme but it is tough to find QB that can actually run it. There are QB's in the NFL that have a hard time managing the pro-style offense. Plus if USF went to pro-style not sure if they can still get the audibles from the sidelines.
