Let the record show that it took nine (9) posts before it was blamed on Grothe.

So, aside from TJ, Mitchell, Edwards, Hester, Love, and Bogan at WR, then Ford, Taylor, Kelly, Williams, and Plancher at RB. Who else needs to get the ball...oh right, forgot Hill.

That will really narrow it down, great work guys.

I have no idea what any of this means, or if any of you have actually identified a problem to solve. I guess...

1. Ford needs to get the ball more

2. WRs need to catch the ball.

Well, Hill had a drop (he's good for about 0.8 drops per game, get used to it). Bogan had two drops. In his two years, I think that probably brings his grand total to...2, maybe 3.

Grothe threw a pick on a bad route. He also threw a TD on a busted play/remarkable throw. wash.

Here's a novel idea...maybe...as a team...a 5-1 team...we just didn't execute on Thursday night. I am not saying that Gregory is the best OC ever, and there are plenty of issues I have with his playcalling, but in the end, the defense didn't get it done and the offense couldn't get into a rhythm (partially self inflicted due to dropped passes). When the defense can't get off the field, it makes it very tough.

Lets move on, heal up a bit, and come back and finish strong for the last half of the season.

USF’s offense should key on a few guys instead of spreading the ball around which can breed inconsistency. Most teams do this on offense not sure why USF does not.

WR

1. Taurus Johnson (He should get the ball thrown his way the majority of the time. The more he gets the ball the more he is likely to breakout)

2. AJ Love (Excellent Speed good hands)

3. Jessie Hester (Does a good Job of getting open on 3rd down in tough situations

TE

1. Cedric Hill (Great option on play action and on 3rd down. He  can be used similar to Hester depending on the formation)

RB

1. Mike Ford (He is a bruiser but will not break the big one)

2. Jamar Taylor (Excellent change of pace from Mike Ford can do similar things but has more speed and can break the game open)

yes.

athletes need to get into a rhythm to be most effective.

TJ, Love and Hester are our best receivers.  they should be in the game as much as possible, with Bogan, Mitchell and Edwards covering subs and 5-wide.  coaches need to draw some plays up specifically for Ced.

Ford is our best back.  he should get 20 or more touches a game, Taylor should get 10 or more, Kelly on short downs [THE GUY HAS NO NEGATIVE YARDAGE PLAYS THIS YEAR!!!1] and BBQ for blocking and catching passes out of the backfield.

this isn't just about what is the best strategy for winning, but what is best for the program as a whole... with the exception of Dre Hall, USF has never produced a feature player that has gone on to the next level and made an impact.

as a team we need to start producing high profile backs and receivers that get national attention in order to be more attractive to recruits.

top notch recruits don't come to a team to be one of five backs in a rotation, or one of 7 receivers that splits equal touches.

Bogan and Edwards definitely deserve touches as well.

I'm not so sure about Mitchell anymore. He's obviously freakishly quick, but I'm not sure that his head is in it. He's blown a lot of sure things this year and has caused some trouble by screwing up his routes.

Mitchell has also been wide open down field on many occasion and Matt has not even given him a look because he is too busy staring down his primary target! Just saying!!!!

Im not sure about that. Mitchell didnt look for the ball downfield at pitt and the INT resulted. See this thread: http://thebullspen.com/index.php?topic=54980.0

I agree with everything except what is bolded, if you saw the 4th quarter, Mike Ford broke some big running plays and is what made our scoring drive.  For a bruiser, I would put in Kelly, he is huge and is great for short yardage situations.  He should be in on all 3rd and shorts or goalline situations.

From what I have seen of Kelly, he reminds me of Mike Alstott.  Every time he has had the ball he has made at least 5 or more yards a carry.    IMO he is not utilized enough.

How can we get top recruits at skill postions when they don't get to play full time?

[/quote

Heh...ask Urban Meyer...

He got Tebow, then the next year picked up Brantley and Newton, the top two QB's in the nation.

He consistently gets the top skill positions too...

Maybe a good way to recruit guys like Carl Moore are to tell them, yes, UF is the beeauty queen in this pageant but you won't get a lot of touches there...

I do not think Mike Ford posesses the speed to take off without getting caught from behind. In regards to short yardage and goaline situations a I agree with you, I would love to see a formation with Kelly and (Ford or Taylor) in the backfield with Pupello at TE. I think it would be tough to stop and in a pro style formation we would have the option for a naked bootleg.

You didnt, but that and other scenarios when we've thrown deep to mitchell, he isnt looking for the ball. Thats why Im not too keen on throwing deep to mitchell right now

We're not UF.  Jim Leavitt isn't Urban Meyer.  UF can get anybody they want.  We can't...... yet.
