I mean, how classy is it to run up to an older couple from the visiting school and yell "You suck!" in their face?  Or worse, when we are at their stadium?

I saw this numerous times after the WVU game.

I saw some of this after WVU, when I could (though I couldn't really speak any more), I just started a "U-S-F" chant. People are excited and want to channel their energy somehow. Be the leader and help them to channel it in a positive way.

I had no problems at UCF the last time, but it wasn't on campus, wasn't the last game, and wasn't after a 64-12 beat down. I think it will be fine, but we as the better group of people have to just take whatever they dish out without retaliating. No reason to egg them on, let them yell, let them throw things, but after we win, get out of there, fly your flags, and know that it is over...forever.

You'll still encounter some bad folks as you will at every college game, but this minimizes the nasty encounters.

Exactly.

I've been to over 30 different college stadiums & bowl games...and every single time I've seen some drunk obnoxious fans...but I don't worry about the minority (usually just 2%-10%), I just focus on the MAJORITY who are well behaved.

That's why I never have a problem with drunk idiots...as if you just ignore them (which they hate), they are left just cussing at themselves.

Thousands of USF fans will be at the game...and I'm sure most will have a good time (if you focus on the positive and not the negative).

PS. If drinking...don't try and drive all the way back to Tampa right after the game...not worth the risk...as there are zillions of hotel options/budgets to choose from to get a good SAFE night sleep.

"I went to their first on campus game last year vs Texas and saw first hand how rude and obnoxious their fans were to the longhorn fans, and they are not even a hated opponent like we are to them.  Definitely not a family environment over there.  I would not recommend bringing the family if you plan on going to this game."

My son was threatened with fights 3 times as he left RJS last September (I was there too, and had no problem).  Would you recommend that new fans to USF games to not show up (much less - gasp! - bring their families) because of the rude and obnoxious behavior my son encountered?

We both have fans that are jerks.  The university has taken steps to rectify the few problem the UT fans encountered that day.  They weren't repeated the rest of the season.

Let's all hope for a great game, and a fun time for both schools.

Your son was probably being an obnoxious assclown.  The only fans we've had problems with in our stadium the last 3 years have been the jerks from Orlando.

... and Rutgers... and WVU...

Sitting in 125, I am near the visiting fans section... there may be more problems at UCF games (because they bring more visiting fans)... but there are bad apples in every bunch...

Including USF fans.

Let's not be the pots calling those kettles black, now, okay?

Any UCFers on here that can tell us if USF fans can be directed to park and tailgate together?  Is that one of the issues dealt with after the Texas game to separate the fans. I liked that at FAU how they directed people so that all USF folks parked together.  5 or 6 hours drinking together could be a bad mix.

I ventured over to the Lake Claire area during the Texas game tailgate and a lot of Texas fans were set up there(some UCF fans too but seemed like a calm group, not very crowded).  Nice area to tailgate(u can park cars there too) and not a bad walk, right by the Lake w/ a few grills already there for grilling. It's located at the corner of Gemini and Greek Park Drive. Another chill location would be near the fountain by Millican Hall where you could also get a big group to set up there and for the older fans I know Marshall rented the baseball complex for their tailgate so if USF boosters did that, it would be the best location(right next to the stadium).

Here's a map..blue is free parking, rest are donors

FYI...in 2006...USF (maybe their alumni association?) had an open party to one and all at the Orlando Arena parking lot (about 2 miles from the Citrus Bowl) where many USF fans parked...and took quick shuttle buses.

UCF's campus...room is TIGHT...as all the close in parking is reserved for boosters...whoever believe at least 1 or 2 schools used the Baseball or Track field as a pre-tailgating "official" party area.

I wouldn't be surprised if USF sets up something in UCF Research Park (area immediately South of Campus, the "tan" area in the above map in the previous post) to set up a party/shuttle bus area for their fans.

I'm sure both schools will have more info as the months get closer...and I'm sure USF will be having an official tailgate party "somewhere"...but of course...many fans choose to just "go it alone" and find some groups to party with on-campus.

PS. Plenty of local hotels just 1-2 miles from campus on Alafaya Trail and University Blvd

With the game moving to Saturday, maybe we'll be able to go.  Friday wasn't gonna work for us.  Even if I don't go, I still like this better.  I don't like Friday games unless they're at home.

My first reaction.

It would have been tough for me to make it, but will for sure now for Saturday. Will definately make the Kansas game also.

Go BULLS !!!
