Yes, they have.  And 3 of those games were Gagne's fault, and any others had nothing to do wth the bullpen, except maybe 1 game.  So to say that the yankees gained because the red sox bull pen wasn't great prior to gagne is not valid.  They gained because the red sox offense was completely anemic for a month period.
