Thats an objective statement.  You can say best record in the majors but how can you say best team?

I think their lineup has more holes than swiss cheese.  The only ones I would rely on is Manny, Ortiz and Lowell....everyone else....ehhh.

I'll take the the healthy Mets overall team anyday.  Remember dominating and 1st place all without their ace Pedro so far.

Pedro

El Duque

Glavine

John Maine

Oliver Perez

Lo Duca

Delgado

Castillo

Reyes

Wright

Alou

Beltran

Shawn Green/Endy Chavez/Jeff Conine/Lastings milledge

Bullpen

Mota

Sanchez

Aaron Heilman

Feliciano

Wagner

Schoweweis

Smith

Sick! (notice no Eric Hinkses, Julio Lugos, Youklis, Pedroias, Crisps in this lineup)

That rotation has more holes than rotten swiss cheese.

John maine is a 5th starter at best.

El Duque, 5th starter at best.

Pedro... has been getting hammered by single A batters, potential to be dominant, but coming off surgery, big question mark.

Glavine... reliable, but not that great anymore

Perez... 3rd or 4th starter at best.

So the only pitcher that could be a #1 starter is Pedro, and he might not ever return to form ???

Good thing the Mets have a good lineup, but pitching is what wins championships.

It's 100% objective. I only use best record when it comes to determining which teams are better. Saying that "so and so line up" is better is 100% subjective.

Haha I like that....but your argument has more holes in it than Ted Kennedys liver.

If anything Oliver Perez is a 5th guy at best.  John Maine is a 3 on any squad and El Duque is a 2 on any squad and maybe even a 1 in post season.

Have you seen Pedro's last start.....nails!  He is just going through motions, working on his pitches, he isnt even trying to win.  Scott Peterson (best pitching coach in mlb) went to his start and said Pedro looks fine and its good the Mets have been overly cautious with him.  He will be fine.

Looks like Krusty the Clown aka Manny Ramirez is pulling his old injury tricks before post season and also seems as if he has been smoking too much hippie lettuce this year to hit the ball like the old Manny.  Oh yea, I forgot to mention you guys have JD Drew...what an acquasition!

Anyway...we will see you bums in the World Series, where your you may have to use Eric Hinske as your DH.  Good luck with that.

Maybe you should worry more about keeping first place from the Fighting Phils than Boston's lineup! ;)

El Duque is a 1 on any squad???  He wouldn't even be in boston's rotation.

Maine is garbage. Pedros last start was good... but that wasn't vs big league players, and he never went over 88 on the radar gun.

Your pitching has been benefited by your good offense.

good point and I am worried about them.  But a good friend of mine who is from philly and a phillies fan guaranteed me the Phillies will fall off and be 8 games out by the end of the season.  He has been right in the past.

I guess I hit a nerve, or reality set in that your pitching staff does actually blow.  It'll be ok.  You have a big enough lead where you can ride the bad staff right into the playoffs, before getting exposed.
