I actually could care less about the record. DiMaggio's 56 game hitting streak is the end-all-be-all. HR really mean nothing to me (particularly with a team behind 12.5 games in last place).

And most people are watching it for the circus. The only people cheering for him are in San Francisco... he breaks the record anywhere else you'll see the fans 'love' Bonds for sure.

San franciso?  Im from new York and live in Tampa now, i cant wait for him to break the record, I'll be watching espn every night to watch his at bats.  I know LOTS of people who think just like me on the bubject and will be tuned in.  thats why they turn off whatever is on espn and put on his at bat. People love to hate Barry Bonds, no matter what their motive is, he sells out every stadium he goes to.  you cant deny that. 

DiMaggios 56 game hitting streak will be beat sometime within the next 2 years, watch (ichiro or reyes).  the most incredible record which will NEVER be beat is Cal Ripkins consecutive game streak.  Miggy Tejada was kind of (understatement) sniffing it until he broke his wrist a few weeks ago.  I believe AROD will beat Bonds record if he stays healthy.

Hermie...not a NL fan but say Reyes during the all star game. He's a gem, nice get for you all - I love players that get on base and make it happen. Assuming you're not a yankee fan (where's the "throw up in mouth" smilie?)

They hate Barry at Dodger stadium.  i want to see smazza cheering when he ties it in LA and breaks it in san diego.  probably the 2 places barry is hated most.
