Central Florida, situated in Orlando, played its first game in 1979; last season it averaged 31,569 fans at the Citrus Bowl. The Knights will christen a 45,000-seat stadium this fall  they’re coached by George O’Leary, who’s 12-24 at UCF and who has never met a construction project he didn’t embrace  and Texas will serve as the first visitor. South Florida is doing quite well. Central Florida, which has graced one bowl in its existence, is hanging in there. link

I must say I'm proud. congrats... it was UCF's first time to beat us in attendance since the inception of USF football. The difference was just over 1k.Like the others have said... take out our visit and well... you know. Our 2005 attendance with UCF (not to forget WVU and FAMU) = over 38k. UCF had just 30k that year (if not lower, but I think 30k is accurate). Our attendance in 2005 was after a 4-7 season. Now with a similar schedule this year and coming back from a 9-4 and bowl victory season... well, it should be fun.

In Georgia, they would have to compete with the UGA, and in Atlanta alone, they would be up against; the Falcons, Hawks, Thrashers, and GaTech. The reason for the article however, was not GSU - but to point out the way the out of state media looks at USF and UCF.

That UCF-USF game does make sense from a fan interest point of view. It's a highly attended game no matter who's home it is played in.
