I suggest you learn the history of Title IX before calling it a shame. It was not created soley for athletics, although that is what it is most associated with.

Without Title IX there would be very little to offer in the way of women's athletics (Does it suprise you that NCAA women's athletics were virtually nonexistent before Title IX) The problem is football uses 85 scholarships and  there are no women's programs that come close to that.

Every institution has 3 ways of meeting title IX requires for athletics so it is fairly done.

In Rutgers case, it was WAY more about covering all the money they had put into football than Title IX. The Title IX excuse was a total coverup.

Glad to hear people are going to the games; it's a great sport and a ton of fun to watch.

A few friends and I started the team back up in 2000. I played 00-03; captain 01-03. We ended up fielding a pretty good team, placing second in our division (lost to UGA in championship) my senior year. We graduated 8 of 10 starters that year, leaving the team in a tough position, especially since they were bumped up to Div A the next season.

The current USF team is facing very strong competition. They play well established teams that typically field 60 players, vs. ~20 for USF.

While I see no likelihood of going varsity in the near-future, it is not impossible. St. Leo started a varsity NCAA D2 team a couple years back. I'm not sure how good they are now, but they wouldn't even scrimmage us b/c they knew we would kick their butts.

In summary -

Any student can play.

No experience is necessary; good athletes are always welcome.

They need people that can hit, this is a full-contact sport.

There is also a womens team (completely different sport), which I think is pretty solid.

People can IM me with any questions.

If you ever wanted to get a picture of rueb -- here he is.

His claim to fame is chilling with the notorious Miss. Nevada -- the girl who got dethroned.

Hijacking this thread is one thing A.r.i.; but to claim I am that skinny poser in the USF Lax shirt is too much.

That kid never played.

I do like the picture though, the bb team should use it to recruit.

Interesting. I did notice that during the Saleem game they had plenty of more players than we did. I'll definitely be going to more games!

So we have our own "Rueben Gump", huh?
