  1. I am waiting for "Jamies" follow up comments on "Doesn't that Grothe thread teach everyone etc.etc..." Give me a second while i run to the fridge to grab a beer.
  2. So much for all that rumor stuff: http://blogs.tampabay.com/usf/ --- April 27, 2007 Grothe arrested for serving booze to minor USF quarterback Matt Grothe, last year's Big East Rookie of the Year, was arrested last week while working at a Bulls-themed sports bar and faces a misdemeanor charge of selling alcohol to an underage person. Grothe, 20, was working behind the bar April 19 at the Bull Ring Sports Bar near USF's campus on Fowler Ave., when he served two Corona Extras to an 18-year-old who was working with officers from the state's Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco. Grothe's arrest is unlikely to result in any significant disciplinary action from coach Jim Leavitt, and legally should not amount to more than probation and community service. But it seems USF was unaware the most prominent athlete on campus was working at least occasionally in a job serving alcohol at a place that USF encourages its fans and boosters to congregate. "I had heard something happened, but I didn't know what. He’s not there anymore," Leavitt said Friday. Asked if he had known Grothe was working there, Leavitt said he did not, and when asked if anyone at USF knew, he said "(I'm) unsure. But somebody is supposed to." Several Bulls coaches host their radio shows at the Bull Ring, a restaurant and bar is part of USF's "Bull Country" network of area businesses, catering to USF fans and featuring Bulls decorations prominently. Grothe's employment there in itself is neither illegal nor in violation of NCAA bylaws. Anyone over the age of 18 in Florida can legally serve alcohol in a licensed establishment, and NCAA rules do not limit a job a scholarship athlete can hold, so long as he is paid appropriately for actual work. Grothe, who did not return messages Friday seeking comment, was USF's offensive MVP as a redshirt freshman last year after leading the Bulls to a 9-4 record and the program's first bowl victory. He engineered three come-from-behind victories in September and established himself a playmaker, passing for 2,576 yards and 15 touchdowns and rushing for 622 yards and nine scores. 3. 9-4. Losses to WV - Auburn - UL and some other stupid team. Back to the Pizza bowl..
  4. 10-3 is very upbeat... UL, WVU,. Auburn, Rutgers????
  5. With Brian Brohm - and Pat White coming to Tampa -- if we beat those teams - I would be SHOCKED!!!! but who knows -- i never saw us beating WVA last year.
  6. I am toning down my prediction... I say we lose to Auburn, West Virginia and Louisville and then we have some other stupid loss. 8-4... and back to the some low-level bowl. I think next year is the break out year for the bulls.
  7. I don't like it... its hard to line up the links and its kinda annoying. my 2 cents.
  8. I am still kinda dumbfounded at how retarded this entry is. Hey Brett -- could you call up coach K and see if he is interested? Then when you get off the phone with him, give Billy Donovan a ring after the final four and see if he would consider the job.. Herman and I were really big fans of you -- but this blog entry is lame-o.
  9. food is awful.. terrible.. wings are horrendous. my 2 cents
  10. I find this update really lame. We are now taking numbers of people who aren't uninterested that we are not interested in. That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. So -- lets call up Roy Williams and see if he is interested in USF -- just so we can run a headline that says "Roy Williams isn't interested in USF." Retarded. Brett -- i am a big fan of you -- but this entry in your blog was totally lame. --- Eliminate three more possibilities Posted By Brett McMurphy at Mar 30, 2007 at 03:29 PM Updated Mar 30, 2007 at 03:35 PM ATLANTA – In 1971, a 24-year old assistant coach at the University of Florida was asked if he would consider applying for the head coaching job at the University of South Florida. Ultimately, the 24-year old Florida assistant didn’t pursue the job, turning down a chance to be the first coach in USF’s program history. And that was USF’s last chance at hiring Mike Montgomery. On Thursday, I asked Montgomery, the former Stanford and Golden State coach, if he would be interested in returning to the college ranks at USF. “No, no, no,†he said and then recalled his one chance at coming to USF in the early 1970s. Besides Montgomery, Southern Illinois’ Chris Lowery and Holy Cross’ Ralph Willard both said there were not interested in the USF job. Lowery had been speculated as a possible candidate, but he’s in the mix for some of the higher profile openings. Willard, who was a finalist for the USF position in 2003, said he was not interested this time around and had not been contacted by USF. Send Us Your Comments
