But I do feel pretty good for 2008:

Gilliam may be a SR(seems that he could have a 5th year)

Murphy will be a JR

Roberts will be SR

Washington will be a RS Fr

Ellick will be a SR

And who knows if Tyson will move from RB to CB

Hear good things about Dylan Douglas

Curious about the Cox twins, they'll be JR's

Do wish we could have landed another CB this year.

PHS' Hill pledges to FSU

When Anthony Hill misses a meal, folks notice.

Especially Anthony Hill.

So when Hill, a junior defensive tackle at Pensacola High, was called out of English class Friday to coach Mike Bennett's office, he hoped the meeting wouldn't conflict with lunch.

Bennett gave the 6-foot-4, 290-pound human food factory something better to feast on. The 11-year coach informed Hill that Florida State had extended a scholarship offer.

Hill devoured it, becoming the Seminoles' first pledge in their 2008 class.

"I couldn't refuse," he said.

Hill, a News Journal All-Area second team selection last season, battled injuries to make 42 tackles, three sacks, three fumble recoveries and a pair of forced fumbles.

He complemented All-Area first teammate and South Florida-bound Terrell McClain.

College interest immediately began to pour in. National champion Florida, Alabama, Auburn, USF and LSU all sent letters.

But when the 'Noles knocked, Hill couldn't ignore the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of Pensacola Bay Area natives who played at FSU.

"Like (Washington alumnus) Derrick Brooks, people get really good at what they do at Florida State," Hill said. "Plus, I've seen a lot of people that play my position that went to the league (NFL) from FSU. I figured this was my best chance."

Hill carries a 2.7 grade-point average and has yet to receive scores of the first ACT he took last weekend. He'll join Bay Area scholarship players D.J. Norris (Pace) and Joe Surratt (Pace), Graham Gano (Tate) and Paul Griffin (PHS) at FSU.

How come USF doesn't go after the big names?

"The star system is inaccurate" I know, I know but why not? Who puts the list of schools on Scout or Rivals (besides the webmaster)? Is it the recruit or the schools that are actually interested?

How can we go after that blue chip if our name isn't even on the list? Next year are we just going to pray that another 3 star Grothe comes along or are we going to offer the Jimmy Clausen on 2008?

Just read this in USF's rivals forum. Don't know how credible this is...

Vincent Williams received a written offer from USF today. He plans on attending a Bull's practice, meet the coaches, and tour the facilities over his spring break (last week of March).

Vince currently holds written offers from: UF, LSU, Alabama, and now USF

He has a verbal offer from: FSU (will get letter at FSU junior day 3/24)

Vince is a Rivals 100 to watch for 2008!

UCF students wish that their school was USF in terms of Football.  Next year, they will cry on the way back to Orlando...
