How come Notre Dame is still predicted to go to the Sugar Bowl by CBSSportsline? I thought they had to be in the top 8 and they're are #10 in the BCS.

THE QUESTION SHOULD BE HOW COME THE BIG EAST ALLOWS NOTRE DAME TO PLAY IN OUR CONFERENCE FOR ALL SPORTS BUT FOOTBALL. KICK THEM OUT.

'cause they are afraid Notre Dame would take their football to another conference.  I guess they still have hope of them joining the Big East one day.

ND is guaranteed a bcs spot if they finish in the top 8.  A bcs bowl can invite them if they are in the top 12.

Kick them out and do what?  Add ECU?  UCF? Southern Miss?  ???

I don't like the football deal, but having USF in the same conference as Notre Dame brings a certain level of credibility in other sports and academically.

ND brings a number of things for football to make them be the at large bid:

1) Fans

2) TV Ratings

3) TV Ads Revenue

As for the BE arrangement, they're freaking ND. They have good followings in ALL sports, further they are the "flagship school" academically for the conference. Every conference needs 1: ACC = Duke; SEC = Vandy; Big 12 = Baylor; Pac 10 = Stanford; Big 10 = Northwestern.

Academics are important to conference profiles.
