beastiebull Posted September 14, 2006 Group: Member Topic Count: 135 Content Count: 3,805 Reputation: 82 Days Won: 4 Joined: 12/26/2001 Share Posted September 14, 2006 We ran that out pattern to the sideline about 7 times too many vs. FIU (and got burned.)We didn't appear to blitz very much vs either FIU or Mcneese.  Also appeared to stay in a very base defense, allowing 1 on 1 coverage in the secondary on a regular basis.  We've handed off from the shotgun and ran up the middle, oh, I don't know, what feels like 70% of the time.  The one time we did get creative (Taurus' end around) it worked out great.  Question is do we think we are keeping vanilla due to lack of knowledge of the offense, or for ucf's "benefit"?  After all we all  know how CJL feels about the tinmen.  Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Rabbi Bull Posted September 14, 2006 Group: Member Topic Count: 110 Content Count: 3,103 Reputation: 0 Days Won: 0 Joined: 03/14/2002 Share Posted September 14, 2006 i think we have been, and here is why. when you looked at who we have played so far, they haven't been anybody spectacular. we should have beaten these two hands down on a good night. we just had an off-night when we played them, and looking at how other teams faired, we were not alone. now, coaches look at game tape of their opponents previous games, why would leavitt want to give ucf any help on what we can really do? he was playing smart conservative ball the first two games, because the opponent wasn't supposed to be that tough. look back to ul last year. before the game, you can say we had a vanilla team, but when game time came, we showed some trick plays. i think against tougher opponents we will show more. just my 2 cents. I'm sure they pulled everything out in hopes of an upset. After they knew they had no chance they likely shut it down....based on the score maybe we DONT have much tape on them.
