Bulliever,

You cannot argue a kicker v. a QB, I'm sorry. Especially 2 guys as ugly as the Martin and Santiago. Further Santiago's job was 6-7 plays a game, not running the offense for 50-60.

Forget Matt Simms.  The guy you all should go after is Jean Julmiste.

In a junior season shortened by hurricanes, Julmiste threw for more than 800 yards and 10 touchdowns. He was an honorable mention all-Broward selection. The 6-foot-2, 165-pounder has seen considerable interest from colleges, but doesn't yet hold any firm scholarship offers.

No it wouldn't bring people.

Many of these high school kids don't know or care who Phil Simms is. They know who his brother is, but by your theory UTEP would be stockpiling people because of Jordan Palmer.

Kids are going to follow where the top guys go and then fall in later.

I hate how obsessed people are with names on this board sometimes.

Spurrier for OC

Huggins for Basketball Coach

Tino Martinez for Baseball coach

I think Matt will be a good college QB. It is my belief knowing how I was at the age of 18, that if he came to Tampa where is brother is the starting QB to the most popular professional sports team in the area. There will be a lot of distractions that could hurt him/us.

Just my 2 cents. I wouldn't cry if we got him, but chances are with the number of QBs on roster, if we got him we'd lose out of Voss and a number of other guys who I think will help this program more.

The Carson Palmer/Jordan Palmer thing was a nice try, but come on.  Phil Simms won a super bowl.  Carson Palmer is on equal footing with Chris Simms. Both led their team to the playoffs.

If we land Matt Simms it will generate very positive media exposure for USF. When your pops won a Super Bowl and your brother plays in the league, your decision of where to go will make headlines. Along with hopefully swinging a few recruits.

However, I don't care what QB we get as long as he is good.

What I noticed is that we are looking at more PRO STYLE qbs this year when in the past we have tried to get the Dual-threat quarterback

Trent Dilfer won a Super Bowl too does that make him better than Peyton Manning, and Dan Marino?

Didn't Shaun King lead his team further in the Playoffs than Simms? Thus King was a better QB.
