THE PESSIMIST 'That'll never work.'

-- Avoid the urge to dismiss the pessimist's negative outlook. It's tempting to counter with a simple, 'Aw, it's not that bad' -- and to turn your attention to the positive people. This is certainly an efficient approach. But it risks alienating the pessimist and making her feel even more negative. And it keeps you from getting at underlying issues and helping to change the person's attitude in the long term.

-- When a pessimist starts to generalize, ask why, and gently press for specifics and solutions.

-- As ideas and action plans begin to take shape, people often get carried away with enthusiasm -- and they fail to see potential pitfalls that can hobble the plan as it's implemented. You can guard against this by putting the pessimist to work in the important role of 'healthy skeptic.' Ask for her candid feedback while things are being put on the drawing board. Ask questions like: What are we not considering as we build this plan? What could go wrong in implementation? If the responses are general, use additional questions to uncover specifics.

-- When the pessimist insists that things won't work, share one or two recent success stories as evidence that it just might be possible. For instance, if the person is bemoaning the fact that a team approach will simply take too much time, share the story about the team from last year that used a 'blitz' approach to complete their project in one week.

Huggins will make the NCAA tourney with K State before we make the NIT with Mac

Huggins just started to feel the effects of being sandwiched in a conference loaded with stars.  Stud PG Hannah shunned him to sign with Mike Anderson at Missouri.  In past years Huggins would destroy Anderson on the recruiting trail at Cinci versus UAB.  Now at Missouri Anderson has the same ammunition.

I'll sit back and wait to see what Thuggins does when he's not a big fish in a little pond.

In due time Bien... you know as well as I do that Huggins will accomplish great things there... If Bill Snyder can place little KState on the map in football, an established Bob Huggins will definitely do wonders.

Maybe, football is different and Snyder slid in when the B12 was down...only really Nebraska was top notch.

We shall see, but his sleezy antics make me happy he'll get to rot his days away in Manhattan, Kansas instead of making a name in the Big East.

I bet you can't wait for next season Velcro.  Maybe we can win 4 games in-conference and then I can read countless retard threads about how IMPROVED we are.  This guy has been here 3 years and has won 7 confrence games.  Has not had a winning record.  And has fired half of his staff. That is all that needs to be said.

I cant believe we have to go through another year of this crap.  My man will go 14-16 and all the non-stadards folks on this board will be nominating him for coach of the year.

Pull this turkey

If 14-16 is so terrible to you, just what do you want to see out of the basketball team this year, recordwise, in and out of conference?

I still think the school needs to do a better job of marketing these basketball games. Attract the casual fan. Do things like lower ticket prices for family packs, arrange tailgates on big games or weekend games.

14-16 record after being at a program for 4 years is garbage.  Honestly -- he needs to go 8-8 in conference to salvage is poor 3 year tenure.

He won't though.  We might win 3-4 games in conference if we are lucky.

14-16 would miss the tourney and the NIT.  14-16 terrible? Absolutely.  Trip is awaiting another year of March sadness.  Keep your goal at making the Big East tourney.  Way to shoot for the stars.  I see why you love Mac so much.
