GAME DAY vs. Temple

 

Coming off a season-best 50-point performance at Memphis, the Bulls’ highest scoring game since 2019, and 583 yards, second-best on the season, USF will take on Temple in the first of two remaining home games as USF seeks two wins and bowl eligibility for the first time since 2018. USF is 4-1 against Temple in Raymond James Stadium, but will be seeking its first home win in nearly two months, playing four of its last five games on the road and gaining two wins. A victory would mark No. 99 in Ray Jay, setting up a chance to reach No. 100 vs. Charlotte.

LORD BYRUM: QB Byrum Brown added his latest verse at Memphis, tying a 21-year-old program record with five touchdown passes, logging his third 100-yard rushing game of the season and totalling 457 total yards (357 passing) to earn AAC weekly recognition for the fourth time on the year. He is ONE OF TWO players in the nation with two total yardage games that rank in the top 15 nationally (his 517 vs Rice lead the nation, while his Memphis output stands No. 14) and joins LSU’s Jayden Daniels as THE ONLY TWO players in the nation with 2,200+ passing yards and 600+ rushing yards. He is the No. 3 rushing QB in the nation (673), No. 6 nationally in total offense (321.7 ypg) and No. 17 in passing (2,222).

SALUTE TO SERVICE: USF will honor members of our armed services and first responders Saturday, wearing a red, white and blue “U” on the Bulls helmets. USF season ticket members have donated nearly 7,000 tickets for Seats for Service for the game, those going to active duty service members and their families. Running back Dominic Gonnella father, Joe, was an Army Special Forces Green Beret and served at MacDill Air Force Base for a time.

TURN-AROUND: USF has posted four wins, equaling the program’s combined win total over the previous three seasons (4-29), and a three-win improvement over 2022 (1-11). It equals the second-best, year-over-year improvement in program history, previously achieved three times - last in 2016. The USF record is a four-win improvement posted between 2014 (4-8) and 2015 (8-5). It marks the greatest, and also only, win improvement for a first-year head coach compared to the year prior in program history. Alex Golesh's four wins are the fourth-best total in a USF coach’s first season, trailing Charlie Strong (10-2, team went 11-2 in year prior), Skip Holtz (8-5, even with win total from year prior) and Jim Leavitt (5-6, first year of program).
