I don't think we've earned the right to call any win lackluster .... The Oracle is trying to fill the "void" left by the TDS departure.

These are the same people that make the opinion articles bashing all of athletics and wanting to cut their funding. I’m not surprised with the lack of love, athletics have to prove to people their worth. We’re slowly getting there.

I wouldn't expect the Oracle to be particularly insightful -- typically written by a student who hasn't followed USF football. This is the same writer that called 2023 'arguably the most anticipated season in USF football history since first kicking off in 1997.' It's pretty bad right from the start.

Quote

USF football won a narrow game against UConn 24-21, almost losing its seven-game losing streak against the team.

Not sure what that's supposed to mean. We had a seven game winning streak against UCONN. In the headline, he puts 'lackluster' in quotes but doesn't attribute it anywhere in the article so I'm not sure if that's editorialized or if that's something that Golesh said. It's a strangely written article through and through.

A school newspaper is a place for a group of self-hating nerds with laptops to feel powerful for once in their lives by having a place to put their opinions for others to read. It’s meaningless drivel.

It would'nt call the win lackluster. While we didn't play well for three quarters, in the fourth quarter after being down double digits points we showed all lot of grit and  a lot of effort.

If anything  the win yesterday was extra sweet since Coach Golesh showed that he was able to motivate his troops to put up a nice comeback.  Also his coaching was solid in the last quarter when it came to lead management. We needed yesterday after the last two weeks and we learned a lot about this team.

Similar, but some differences. The difference is that this is an audience where everyone has a voice to contribute and push back. A newspaper is a mouthpiece for the writer and often times digital newspapers will even disable the comment section or the author never dares take part in the discussion about his/ her article. We don't use our real full names as usernames in order to gain notoriety, real-life accolades, and career advancement. This is more of a community of people with similar goals giving out their opinions on which road we should take to achieve those goals. This is more of a fanbase think tank, it's different. No one here posts their opinions as edict and runs away until their next edict is ready to be posted to the peasants.
