No matter what happens, can we all admit that Stanford proves once and for all that if you have no success in major sports but have all of the Olympic Sports success you still have no sports success?

They use to be good at both football & hoops. Not sure why they got soft on sports.

No matter what when people responded to VPMK’s record with but we are #2 in overall sports in this #2 conference this is why people correctly told them that those other sports do not actually exist.

if the 26 time Learfield directors cup champion is left on the outside looking in, how big of a stretch do you honestly think it is to say no one actually values rowing, softball, T&F, water polo, golf and tennis at all?

If anyone actually went to any of those things they would be able to tell by looking around that no one else cares, they just say they go because they know there is no way anyone can fact check them.

Winning in things that only exist as they are required by law isn’t exactly a recipe for building any kind of relevance

So no conference values Learfield Cups enough to use that as reason to bring in Stanford. There are a myriad of reasons why conference invites are sent out but apparently Olympic sports isn't one of them right now ..... but who cares? Doesn't mean you downplay if a school has decent ones ...... unless one's panties are in a wad over an AD and looking to squash any positives at all about the Department.

Have to agree with Puc. Only sports that move the needle are Football and MBB

If we are defining success as based on revenue, yes. Why? Because football is king in the US of A. How-ev-ah, if you live out there where all that wheat grows, you're in the pipeline for wrestling, not only here, but for the international stage as well. I've run across a lot of guys whose take is "Oh yeah, football". Similar to Stanford in producing Olympic athletes. Context. And in the context of Stanford as a value-added component in realignment, I think you are correct that the absence of football success is a part of the equation.

And let us not forget, a lot of those WTF sports exist BECAUSE OF FOOTBALL. Football produces sufficient revenue that we can have these other sports and of course retain our TITLE IX compliance (very important).

No. That’s ridiculous. Stanford has a highly successful sports program.
