There are good cultures and bad cultures and most coaches use that term differently than disappointed fans.

Totally agree ..... and do appreciate your use of the kinder, gentler "disappointed".

Good cultures are winning cultures and bad cultures are losing cultures, why not just say I am focused on winning (full stop)? When you are winning people will be far more likely to buy into your culture and happier about it permeating. Whatever part of the process you think you are on to produce the winning you can internalize as people don’t really want to know how the sausage is made. They just want to have it be there for dinner and not make them vomit.

I already said that I thought the title was different than what was said. However if someone were to not recognize that if they were going to use culture messaging after selling that for three years and not delivering there it’s not nitpicking to notice the poor use of language, they are the problem.

The ask from the disappointed fans is pretty basic - use a coach speak phrase other than “culture”

I feel ya ..... Pick one and start a campaign. "Accomplishment" seems appropriate? :

Culture

1
as in civilization
a high level of taste and enlightenment as a result of extensive intellectual training and exposure to the arts because of its wide reputation as a place of culture, Boston became known as "the Athens of America"

Synonyms & Similar Words

Relevance
2
as in lifestyle
the way people live at a particular time and place a study of ancient Anasazi culture as it existed in the canyons of the American Southwest

Synonyms & Similar Words

Maybe athletics can focus on the thesaurus portion since there are clearly plenty of words that are less inflammatory

Build Wins.

Build a trophy collection.

Build a list of NFL draft pics.

These things we can measure.

But how do I measure culture?

As Trip says, that’s obvious, a gimme.  That’s what everyone is doing.

Some believe there is a process to that end result and just retorting with “winning” postpones any further coach comment until the results are in.

Kind of boring but also painful for some.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
