While I understand the original premise for NIL and think I understand the NCAA's position, I can say by firsthand knowledge that many university and NCAA officials are not sure how it all will work in application.   As I understand it, NIL programs were intended to provide avenues for independent funding of student athletes for their name, image and likeness.  However, now it appears more and more that the schools are becoming using it as a mechanism to directly pay players.  I've heard that some are even using game pay guarantees to fund this.  I don't even pretend to understand that under current NCAA guidelines.  I think the first real regulation of all of this will come from the IRS.

I have said that and was told by admin that is not true... but I think they have to say that wink wink

I compare it to people busted with an escort and their defense was they were only paying for their time with the escort not sex . Schools are paying for the time the athlete plays at their school disguised as image and likeness.

Boosters are using it to directly pay players but that is nothing new.

Yeah, it’s not new but the mainstreaming of it is completely antithetical to the draw of college football. After more than a decade we are uncommitted on season tickets. It’s as much due to what I see as the corruption of college football in general as it is the current state of USF football.

Can't say I blame you. I must see major improvement this year. If not, I'm dropping  my stuff and all usf donations until they prove they deserve my dollars.
