Beats Bethune Cookman last night 9 - 3.   Missed it with all the excitement of the new MBB coach

Wish we would have used .05% of our athletic budget to convince him to stay.

We couldn't afford Kingston.  South Carolina has a way bigger budget than us when it comes to a Head Baseball Coach.  If it wasn't them someone else from a power conference would have gotten him.

He is probably one of the best coaches that USF has ever had imo

At what point is it cheaper for us to pony up to keep a good coach once we get one?

How much did Oregon out-bid us by for Taggart? 1.5 million per year? That's not much when you consider we've had to pay millions in buyout money on failed replacements since. And have lost all sorts of revenue because the team fell into the ****** with failed hires.

While I agree with you that the turnover isn't worth the $1.5mm extra, have to remember that our admin was not going to pay that at the time. If Taggart was an 11-win coach with PRL and VPoAMK at the helm, not a doubt in my mind we would have matched the offer.

I could swear I remember reading a rumor somewhere that Harlan made a last-ditch offer to match what Oregon gave him. But he A) wanted to go somewhere with a legitimate chance to compete for national titles (for his own legacy) and B) was still bitter with Harlan about the whole Ybor thing amongst other reasons (allegedly).
