Called  it.... but we all knew he wanted to be at Clemson. Maybe one day we will the promotion he deserves offensive coordinator that calls plays. Hopefully he learned from his historical failures on the field and will forever be remembered at Usf for Ipf donations and his coaching record.

Not that I really care, but by taking that job, Scott has basically shut the door on any hopes of being a head coach again

If all he knows is Clemson, then nobody else is going to take a risk on him again

I don't think any d1 would offer him a head coaching job or an offensive coordinator  job at this point. He needs to rebrand and reinvent himself. He should have went to Saban and learned from the best.

OA at Alabama would have been smart or alternately a position coach at any of the top programs

Instead, he went the safe route back to what he knows and is familiar with

I can’t blame the guy for wanting to go home, but after 11 years at Clemson, there is probably little there left for him to learn and clearly, what he has already learned at Clemson was nowhere near enough to make him successful on his own

Interesting the Clemson/DABO way has not really worked out anywhere else but Clemson.

Which begs the question as to why Scott would return there if he still has a desire to be a HC someday

Either:

1) He has no clue why he failed at USF

or

2) He has no desire to address his coaching deficiencies as they relate to being a head coach

My guess is that it is #2 and he has accepted the fact that his head coaching days are over

I actually don’t blame him, he has a couple little ones, he has a comfortable well paying job while he gets payed a mint for failing here. He is on cruise control, not a bad way to live, he probably doesn’t want nor deserves another shot and he is probably ok with that.  Let this guy fade away like a fart in the wind, tired of looking back at the failures of our previous coaches.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
