Normally I think Dan Sileo is a tool and wouldn't give credence to 98% of what he says, but he did bring up something interesting today.

According to him, rumor has it that K-State is going to garner an offer to CJL that will be worth over $1 Mil a year.

He went on to talk about how, if K-State was to make this offer between December 4 and December 31, and CJL accepts, would he be on the sidelines for the Bulls during our first ever bowl appearance.

I'm sure everyone has differing opinions on this, and I am not throwing this out there for everyone to fight back and forth about if they think CJL should stay or if CJL should go, and for everyone to pile on each other about it, but it could become a real scenerio in the next few weeks.

I know the passion CJL has for this program and the University, and I feel it would play out one of two ways:

- He stays on and coaches in that game because it is achieving a goal that he had for this program and he gets to be there and be a part of this great thing that he helped build from the ground up and see it through to this point.

- Because of the passion and respect he has for the program and the University, he does step aside as to not have the team dealing with the questions and speculation of going into the bowl game with a "lame-duck" coach.

I was just wondering what everyone's thoughts/opinions would be about this.

Nope. He is either with us or not. If he leaves for the money let him spend the day counting it.

Agreed.  IF Leavitt accepts and abandons this program at the cusp of it's emergence to greatness, I'd rather have Rod Smith as the interim head coach than have a Lame Duck on the sidelines.

I'll go with what someone else said and I BULLieve will happen ... after the WVU game, Leavitt agrees to a new contract along with the announcement of the new schedules.

We need this taken care of in the heat of recruiting and preparing for the Bowl game ... kids can come visit while you're preparing for a bowl. Great tool of recruiting ... and will help if there are kids in the Charlotte area.

The offensive coaches are another concern... after the bowl WIN !

Go BULLS !!!

If Leavitt takes an offer for more money on the cusp of bringing "his" team to it's first bowl...EVER!...I will never utter his name again in the same sentence w/the word "integrity".  USF is working on a deal that will probably elevate his salary to $800K to $900K working up to $1.2MM in five yrs.  USF doesn't need to match a KSU offer.  There is so much down side to KSU compared to USF IMO.  That's just my guess.

The name most closely associated with being at the top of the list is South Florida coach Jim Leavitt, who was on Snyder’s staff at K-State from 1990 to 1995. Weiser won’t speak about anybody directly, however.

“I’m not confirming or denying anything. I’ve tried in a diplomatic way to say I’m not commenting,†he said. - KC Star

Dimel has talked with the perceived top target, South Florida's Jim Leavitt, with whom he is close. - Witchita Eagle

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
