Penalties have no correlation to wins or losses.

I'd like to see a breakdown of the penalties before judging.

In 25+ years, we have never had a good offensive line.  No one should expect them to be good.  They just need to get in the way long enough for Gerry or Timmy to make a play most of the time.  There is a reason that every good USF QB is known for making plays while running for his life.

We haven’t had a line good enough to do that in the last few years. We need that. I’m not asking for an Alabama or Georgia line, I’m asking for one that allows people to make decisions. We’ve had that before and based on the qb battle it speaks volumes.

There's no quantifiable correlation to wins and losses but they can obviously be involved in the outcome of games ..... which I assume is why you want to see the breakdown.

Penalties are a crapshoot. All about timing and severity of the penalty.

Well the one that Scott mentioned in the article negated a 40 yard TD.

Yep, you could have only one penalty in a game but it could cost you that game ....... so common logic will tell you that you want to try and keep them to as few as possible to lessen your chances of a game losing one.

Makes sense. I'd expect some more this year on D if we are going to be more aggressive.

Were there any injuries reported at all? I keep seeing stories of starters going down with knee injuries all over college scene, which is common this time of year. I was wondering if we remained unscathed or did anyone get dinged up? Does anyone know?

Nothing was noted in the GoUSFBulls "notables".  I would guess no news is good news.

Most of our transfer secondary players seem to be injury prone  Williams, Brown,  Robinson, Hill, and  Jones. Lets hope they all stay healthy and step up this year. If they did not report any hopefully it means there were no injuries.
