The 12 team playoffs will destroy the bowl system going forward.

How many posts did we have 6 months ago that said the 12 team playoffs were the saving grace of college football? Now it's killing the bowl system. Crazy how quickly times are changing.

I don’t care so much about the bowls, but I’m thinking about the fans that spent hard-earned money on travel, hotels, tickets, etc. and end up watching backups play in what now amounts to a meaningless game. If the players want to be treated like employees, there’s a penalty for not showing up for work.

Now? How was it meaningful before ...?

If there's any damage going to be done to the bowl system it'll be by the NIL/portal. This year was an eye opener.

He'd be collecting regardless, so why didn't he just sit out once Colorado was no longer in contention for a bowl game? He took a ton of hits all season, so it would have made sense.

To be clear, I'm referring to opting out of a post-season bowl game. If you think penalizing someone who has collected NIL throughout the season by withholding a dollar amount for this one single game is somehow "gonna teach him a lesson!", not gonna side with that position.

I think we're rapidly approaching the point where there are the relevant playoff games, and we can relegate everything else to nothing more than helping ESPN fill three-hour blocks of commercial opportunities. I would venture to say that those program blocks draw mostly an interest from alumni or the degenerate sports book.

Approaching? Have we arrived there already? Lemme check ... :FIREdevil:

I’ll always religiously follow USF, but everything that was fun, meaningful, and special about college football is over - killed by greed, pure and simple.

Greed can be controlled.  However, afraid of scurrilous lawsuits the NCAA abdicated it’s responsibility.  Cowards.

I was under the impression that all the divas and momma’s boys went home crying cause they didn’t get their way.

Led by their coach.  Come out of a P3-4 conference with a strength of schedule of 50 and think you’re one of the Top Four because you beat a bunch of bums?

UCF playbook. Did they cite some obscure poll or rating system?

Why is that rewarded by the NFL?

Seems clear they’re the invisible hand in CFB.

I thought I was a pretty good propagandist, but you are to be admired.

2nd/3rd best b1g team Iowa getting steamrolled and shut down by the 5/6th ranked sec team without their stars. The B1g is so over-rated.

2nd best team completely shut down and lost to the 3rd best sec team.

Lsu is hanging in the game with all their stars sitting out and all Wisconsin best players playing. Go lsu comeback and keep the domination of their top programs getting whooped by the big boy football  league  .

Hopefully Bama beats Michigan and keeps the streak of the top b1g teams losing.

Fsu is a good fit for the b1g. They get exposed when they play good sec teams.
