Ok, everyone needs to take a deep breath nothing has happened yet.

1. Facts are that USF won’t get in ACC as long as FSU is there.

2. The Big12 took ucf and is at 16 members if they add schools ACC ones will be looked at before USF

3. The SEC has 16 members, the BigTen has 18, really doubt any of them goes over 20. So that means at most 6 ACC schools get raided. And honestly other than FSU, Clemson, UNC and maybe Virginia as both SEC and BigTen would like a member in that state. I don’t see any other that those two would want and increase or match their payout.

4. The ACC has 17 schools not counting ND. Even if 6 left for SEC/BigTen, that would leave 11. Even if Big12 took 4 so all three would have 20 that still leaves 7 ACC schools.

5. So it really looks that if the ACC would be raided by those three, they would still have 7-9 schools and would probably add schools like USF, Navy, Tulane, Memphis, Air Force, Colorado St, SDSU. To get to 16

is that better than Big12, maybe not, but it’s better than what we have now.

Example:

East

Syracuse, Boston College,Wake Forest, Duke, UConn, Navy,USF, Georgia Tech

West

Tulane, Memphis,SMU,Air Force,Colorado St,SDSU,Stanford,Cal

Good analysis. As you say, a watered down ACC is still way better than what we’re in. I don’t see us being added to the B12, UCF couldn’t care less about us and the B12 have a strong conference with strong numbers, they don’t need us now, that ship has sailed. Our only realistic chance is the ACC (which would be great because Duke, UCONN, Wake Forest, Stanford and Georgia Tech have great academics and decent sports, which fits our university profile) and I would be ecstatic about that.

Pessimists/detractors emphasize metrics that USF hasn’t achieved and argue that unless USF does, they’ll never get an invite to a P5 conference.

Optimists emphasize metrics that USF can achieve/has already achieved and argue that USF should get an invite based on those metrics alone.

Truth is that it’ll be a combination of these considerations and maybe others too. Not convinced that Tulane has jumped us because of one good year.  Also not convinced we’re an automatic add.

All that said, I like where we’re positioned. If we can get to be at least mediocre in FB and BB, I’d be even more confident.

That's the reality. Everything else is just people throwing **** against the wall to help this thread get to 4K ....... and if Tulane has jumped ahead of us, it's more about location than football.

Right. And if Clemson leaves the ACC, I think it's highly unlikely to be the only team to leave. I'm thinking it'd be at least two, maybe three. The ideal scenario for us would be for Clemson, FSU, and UNC to buy their way out of the GOR via some kind of financial settlement, the GOR remains intact, and the ACC replaces them with USF, Tulane, and UConn, which (IMHO) are clearly the three most attractive remaining candidates on the board based on a combination of market, academics, recruiting territory, branding, competitiveness, and long-term overall potential. Memphis would be a distant number four on that list (Memphis belongs in the B12).

I can say that it does seem the last thing that matters in College Football lately is football.

Only thing that matters lately is $$$$$ ...

I think the 3 AAC teams that got the call up may have been the only mostly football driven expansion in the last 20 years. Everything else seems to have been brand, location driven ...

We had 70k at the Bama game… B1G should as us as way for all their fans living in Florida a chance to see their team.
