Bull Matrix is right. 2023 is the last year where the 2 NY6 bowls are playoff games and 4 are regular bowls. The P5 have a guaranteed spot for their conference champ in one of the regular bowls if they aren't in the playoffs. But 2024 and 2025 have the expanded playoff so all 6 NY6 bowls become playoff games: 4 as quarterfinals and 2 as semifinals. So no more champ tie in. They'd have to be ranked high enough to be included in either the 6 champs or 6 at large.

Remember, it takes a significant percentage of the membership to vote for expansion (I don't know precisely what that is, but I suspect it's 3/4 of the membership). When someone reports that there are enough votes in the ACC to expand to include the PAC-2 and SMU, I'll be concerned. I suspect FSU, Clemson, and UM (at least) will not vote for such a proposal. And if they don't but the rest of the conference overrides them, it simply makes their push to get out of the conference that more critical - how can they stay in a conference where their opinions are essentially ignored?

This ACC thing is a fight over money. Until someone shows me that adding the PAC-2 and SMU will solve the ACC's money issue and satisfy FSU, Clemson, and UM (and perhaps others), I'll remain skeptical about all of this. Could just be an ESPN/ACC smokescreen.

ESPN could easily pony up 1/2 shares for Stanford and Cal to secure the late night time slot they will be losing next year.  SMU has reportedly offered up zero shares for 5 years!  The carriage fees brought in by the ACC network from the Cali and Texas markets could easily boost the media distribution for all.......follow the money

Think I heard some people talking about making some shirts. I still have not seen the new AAC commercial but I heard they didn’t feature USF in it for very long lol. Said we only has a split second in the beginning. Hopefully they are virtue signaling that USF will be leaving soon

I completely respect it. I think a MWC/AAC alliance would strengthen both conferences. If it were to have happened, the winner of that championship game should have a guaranteed spot in the playoff. The idea was DOA because ESPN/FOX don't want that.
