USF was blocking UCF from joining the Big East ... even if it was informal. UCF alumni lawmakers rasied a stink and publicly shamed USF into being the one to invite UCF to join the Big East as it was dying (it was still the Big East in 2011). If UCF never joined the Big East, they would never have advanced - no Fiesta Bowl, no Peach Bowl, no Scott Frost - and therefore would not have been invited to the Big 12. Different circumstances, they were trying to help a school get promoted c not stopping a school from getting promoted UW and O.

C'mon - we had how many years to invest in the program before UCiF got into the Big East(really AAC)? Even so, we didnt have enough political influence compared to a smaller UCiF in FL to stifle it? That is on USF. Let us look at who has left us behind: Cincy, Lville, TCU, Houston, UCiF, everybody in the Big East except UCONN. Utah and BYU were in the mountain west when we joined the big east. Even when they did get in our conference we did nothing to help ourselves. The admin/coaches/school got beat and now we are where we are. This is our problem not a politician or anyone else's fault. Now we sit here at another inflection point which the school still hasn't prepared themselves for another round of expansion other than building facilities 20 years too late hoping the market angle will help us. Sure we won some games early\quickly, but nobody cares. Sorry venting - but really we\USF didnt do our job at the end of the day. Nobody else's fault. 1 5

Notre Dame, having just lost a coach to $$$, probably learned the hard way about not having the strongest conference/media deal. I bet they flip. When the ACC loses ND that might be enough to spook them into expanding. But I still don't see why they would want USF (and 3 Fla teams)....until FSU/Miami bail. If they lose ND, they will lose more than ND. ND has the same Grant of Rights contract as all of the other schools, just not as expensive because it doesn't include football. If ND can get out of their GOR, then so can FSU, Clemson, UNC, etc.
