So we can force people to play for us? This should be much easier than recruiting. And people can’t be free to leave at any time for any reason? Guess Corey better shut down the portal. We can buy, sell and trade players against their will? If they have kids in the program we get to keep the kids and they too will play football for us? Or is this not slavery in the literal sense and more in the Kanye slavery is a choice type of thing because there is absolutely no logical way anyone can seriously compare college athletics to slavery as not one person has ever been forced in to playing, people leave freely all of the time and players not only can quit they can transfer. At best you can make the indentured servant argument but a slavery argument is really watering down the horrors of actual slavery.

Remember CWT wanted to build a wall around the Bay Area to keep players from escaping.

Thought we could revisit this topic.  Getting tired of El Toro’s RJS - Corona thread.

This thread should be the top thread forever and it can be used to discuss our conference move to FCS by those who want that.

I would love to find some kind of news but their is not much out there. The hottest rumor is that the P5 will completely break away from the NCAA and we will be left out with the other G5 teams. But there are a lot of legal gymnastics that have to occur for this to happen.

We are more likely to move down to FCS than we are to join the P5. There are about eight other schools/athletic departments that are more attractive than ours right now.

All the Jeff Vinik's in the world can't put enough lipstick on this pig.

Cincy has to be #1. Always decent in football, a very good basketball legacy, and perfect location. After that I would go BYU (even with their baggage) due to fan interest, then Memphis and ucf. The problem with Memphis is community college entrance standards (and this matters as Presidents are ultimately making these decisions). UCF May be too far of an island for all sports but I don’t see P5 conferences are ready just yet to play football only.

Houston is definitely on that list with the investments they have made, and would be a logical replacement if/when the Big 10 loses Texas.

Ahhh...yes, can’t believe I forgot them! They have it all with the facilities and tradition. Yeah I would place them as 1b.

I thought the Big10 was all about the academics. I have no idea if Cinci and BYU measure up.
