We we NEVER a strong stand-alone product. We were inviteed to the BE based on our potential to become one. We didn't. So we got relegated. Deal with it.

We are dealing with it... But this is NOT sustainable...

The disparity will continue to increase; unless a fundamental change happens...

Playoff structure change; media deals change; and USF admin gets more fans to the games and we have better buy in... We are already winning in football - and I'm hoping for a turnaround in basketball...

Ok, but the rivalry sucks if one of us are in a P5 and the other in a G6. Rivalry's are best when both teams are good and are on an equal playing field.

If one of use changes levels, no more rivalry. Just like there wasn't a real one before we were in the same conference. Some rivalries can survive on different levels but it would involve a history and geographical isolation, Marshall/WVU for example.

Doing it behind closed doors doesn't get him re-elected. Which is what this is all about, after all.

That too ...

I guess you could say that about Cincinnati and UConn as well from a strong stand-alone product.

Zachary.

Both are very much mid-majors with consistently strong basketball programs, but have had very little success in football.

We're no different, really. Even though we have a better media market, we don't even dominate in our home town.

Marshall/ WVU is NOT a rivalry.

It's a legislated travesty for WVU, it's a godsend for Marshall.

The games against UCF when we were Big East, and they were CUSA.. were still great! And the stadiums still filled up!

You say that b/c we won them all, but if UCF was beating us from a lower tier conference the rivaly would have sucked.

Thought it kind of was .... just reinforces my point of no cross level rivalries.

Another one is Colorado vs Colorado State. They play their second game each year.

4 games played with nothing of significance on the line don't constitute a rivalry .... especially when one set of fans isn't 100% commited to it being one.
