and the BCS bid.  This all comes down to 2 things: TV money and a legitimate/auto shot at the national championship.

No doubt.

From reading the little bit of info currently available, the AAC will get a significant increase in TV money in our next contract.

The figures mentioned are somewhere between $8  - $10 milion per team.

I realize that is still much less than the P5 conferences, but it should separate the AAC even further from the MWC and the other G conferences.

I have seen that number floating around on the conf board site. But I am not getting my hopes up until I hear something more definitive. Of course this will still be way behind the P5, but as you alluded we would be the only "tweener" conference.

Isn't this what we were making in the Big East? Sounds good enough to sustain the football team if we are stuck in the basement of the P6 forever.

We were making $5 mil per year in BE.

I'll believe 8/10 million when I see it. I'd be ecstatic, don't get me wrong.

Not sure how media deals are generally done, but wouldn't make sense for the AAC to sign shorter "prove yourself" deals with a higher AAV?

I'd be ecstatic too, if it ends up being in that ballpark.

There is not much to really go on, except what posters say online.

Post: #46 RE: AAC TV Contract with ESPN

FWIW...Memphis AD Tom Bowen was recently questioned about this on Memphis Sports Radio, approx. 1-2 months ago.

Bowen said Memphis' President Rudd, SMUs' President, and at least one other AAC President, can't remember which one, were engaged in the 2019 AAC contract re-negotiations with the Networks.

Memphis AD Tom Bowen said on the radio interview, that they were confident AAC schools would receive at least $8M-$10M with the renewed TV Contract currently under negotiation to renew in 2019.

I heard it myself, straight from the horse's mouth on Memphis Talk Radio. "At least $8 - $10 Million/per school, with the new contract."

We've clearly separated ourselves from the G4 Pack.

Really good info, Mama! Thanks. That would make me happy.
