Not sure what fantasy world you live in (or if you're just making a joke), but a one loss "historically good" P5 team will ALWAYS be chosen over an undefeated G5 team. The only except to that MIGHT be if the G5 team was working off a previous perfect or almost perfect season.

I don't have to like it, but that's the world we live in.

a la Houston

It needs to be a perfect season.  Houston lost to UConn last year - that and their G5 status alone disqualifies them from CFP.  Otherwise, everything else you said is spot on.

Yes. If it's ever going to happen this would be the year (assuming Houston can run the table). It would still be a huge longshot though. Looking at the last poll, I don't see any of the current top 10-12 P5 teams getting passed over if they had 1 loss and UH had 0.

And we'd have to run the table up to the AACCG to even make that happen ...

I would disagree with this. If Oklahoma ends up winning the Big 12 convincingly and Louisville's only loss is to Houston, I don't see a scenario where Houston is kept out of the CFP, especially if they beat an undefeated or 1 loss USF in the AACCG.

I did hear some of the ESPN drones speculating that Houston would have a good case, but that was before OU lost again.
