that guy throws so much crap to a wall it's amazing. he has had just about every conceivable possibility out there. even the outlandish ones.

Let's face it, the era of superconference is here. There is the Big Four conferences, then one conference will emerge from the rubble as the next best. As of right now, it could be the BE or MW. You would think Conference USA had a chance, but they seem destined to remain the next lower tier. If I was the Sun Belt I might have tried to make a bold move, but it seems the BE and MW are in an arms race right now.

But there are some reasons to go MW instead of BE. The Catholic schools are ready to bolt. If USF, UConn and Cincy all think they have a landing spot, the best move is to split the $60mil exit fees and dissolve the conference. That frees everyone (even Houston, UCF, SMU, Boise, SDSU) from exit fees from the BE.

For the last 12 months it's been apparent that the rest of the BE merging with the best of the MW was going to happen. It still happens, but in reverse. The MW is more stable at the moment (that's not saying much), but that may be the way it shakes out.

Crazy stuff. The ACC, meanwhile, could also go into the wind.

What is outlandish about it? It is reasonable for the BE to add Boise, SDSU, Fresno, Air Force, but not reasonable for the MW to add the eastern teams remaining in the BE?

It is completely reasonable, and there has been lots of noise about the MW getting a much better TV deal. How does that happen? The only reasonable way that happens is if the MW adds to it's footprint. It is not only reasonable, it is rather obvious and we should have seen this as a possibility.

So the real question is whether the MW or BE can put together a decent TV deal first. That conference will get the 8 or so teams that will headline this conference until something better comes along.
