I am squinting really hard...I don't see a conference championship in the trophy case...oh wait...I see it!...no...that's the Magic Jack Bowl Champion...

Some people aren’t lucky enough to coach during a descent into the AAC.

If we should ever the win the conference this year (no friggin way) we would have gotten better each game...something Leavitt never learned how to do...

This is a good point.  As much as I love what Leavitt did for us starting up the program and making us competitive right off the bat.  We always seemed to finish the season with a whimper, which was disappointing......Makes you wonder why he has never been given a chance for another head coaching job.

...somehow I don’t think it would have mattered for our prior coaches....

:puke:  The zeitgeist of the board tells me that this isn't the best season we have ever had, great seasons do not involve losing to the team that lost to Citadel.

He didn't say great season, said best season if we win the conference, big difference .... but even then, both those terms are terribly subjective.

Maybe it had something to do with depth as we were continually moving up in competition while typically not completing a recruiting cycle before moving yet again and perhaps the reason he has not gotten another head coaching job to date had more to do with the smear campaign we perpetuated when we foolishly thought we could do better but were too chickenshit to be upfront about it.

Unfortunately this debate probably will not end this season but deep down you know that no one is going to be satisfied with the losses against Wisconsin and Georgia Tech just because we happen to win more games against the also-rans if we happened to lose against BYU too it probably would't even matter if we went 9-3 never mind the fact that we could go 7-5 and win the AAC which no one would be impressed by at all.
